How did I get this lucky? I spend my days writing for kids! Does it get any better than that? (Only if you add a palm-fringed beach or the British Museum . . . and once in a while, I do.)

You make up characters, and then they develop lives of their own. They surprise you. They amuse you. They become your imaginary friends.
